  1. Finally a stringent anti-fixing draft is in place with recommendations and modifications by experienced lawmakers as well as literary help sought from international sports bodies etc. However it is weird to understand the law ministry initial denial in including clubs like IPL etc within its ambit! Further, the draft focuses entirely on Indian players involvement in such malpractices(in national and overseas matches), not on those foreign players who play matches in our country. Also how the bill if passed will address grave issues like team/club owners presence with players in their dressing rooms etc as well as their active involvement in deciding upon team strategy and betting is not highlighted.Further why this draft keeps aside duties and responsibilities of such an agency so intended to be stipulated is questionable.

    2. In the wake of the spot-fixing scandal in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League, the proposed law intends to deter the sportspersons from having any dishonest intentions while participating in a tournament, by making it a punishable offence.

To curb corruption and malpractices in sports, including cricket, the law ministry has suggested that dishonest tactics might not necessarily involve payment of bribes, any other consideration or involvement of bookies, but will be considered an offence if the actions alter the outcome of a particular tournament

    3. i think the law ministry should pass the law that is not only effective to the players but also the agency who is appointed to look after this malpractices so that the agency can remain active al the time ..

Road connectivity is restored, the Uttarakhand govt has provided the district magistrates with a helicopter each to ensure that they stay connected with the affected villages. The choppers will take supplies to the affected villages and also airlift ill or old people needing medical attention.
Trucks carrying relief material for Uttarakhand floods victims have been flagged off from the party's Delhi headquarters.
The BSNL has opened toll free helpline numbers to trace the last location of BSNL mobile phones carried by tourists or pilgrims stuck in the hills.BSNL is also providing free phone facilities at all its telephone exchanges, telephone and control rooms at various locations to enable people to contact their families.

A good news for mobile Internet users.

India's top three telecom operators — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular — have slashed rates for mobile Internet by more than 80% for 2G subscribers during the week. The new tariff, offered under pay-as-you-use schemes, are aimed at subscribers who have very low usages and generally do not use data services

    OPERATOR - NEW RATES
    Vodafone - 2PAISE/10KB
    Idea - 1PAISE/10KB
    Airtel - 1PAISE/10KB

How does these new tariff schemes help the customers ??

    1. As 3 telecom operators Airtel,Vodafone and idea have slashed their rates more than 80% for 2G subscibers , so people who dont use internet as much as on their mobile they are vry happy for this scheme nd more people are getting attractive towards the scheme.

      Delete
    2. According to me this scheme would be beneficial to both customers as well as companies. As now company would able to generate more profits by expanding its customers and customers may also easily subscribe to internet at low rates.

      Delete
    3. But,there is also a potential concern that reduction in 2G data prices by almost 80% increases the price differential with 3G,thereby making 3G look less attractive

    4. people are concern for price and service, they are not concerned about 2G and 3G. they are interested in speed. This will beneficial for all the user.

  9. INDIAN WOMEN BEAT CHILE, FINISH SEVENTH IN FIH WORLD LEAUGE

The Indian women’s team scored a hard-fought 2-1 win over lower-ranked Chile to finish seventh in the FIH World League Round 3 here on Saturday. In the 44th minute, Chile went ahead through Camila Caram who scored off a penalty corner.

The South American side’s joy was, however, shortlived as Ritusha Kumari restored parity for India three minutes later, pushing home from close range a pass from Lilima Minz.

Chanchan Devi Thokchom scored the winner for India in the 56th minute from a goalmouth melee.

Chile had many chances to draw level, earning quite a few penalty corners, but failed to convert any of them.

The Indian men’s team will face Spain in the fifth-sixth place play-off match on Sunday.

The results (women): Final: Germany 1 (Janne Muller-Wieland) bt the Netherlands 1 (Kim Lammers) in shootout 4-3. 3rd place playoff: Korea 3 (Han Hye Lyoung, Seung A. Park, Han Hye Lyoung) bt New Zealand 3 (Anita Punt, Katie Glynn, Kyla Sharland) in shootout 3-2.

Actor Vindu Dara Singh, arrested for betting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and now on bail, says betting in the game should be made legal.
"Cricket is like a religion in India. IPL will be conducted and betting will take place as well," said Vindu on Monday on the sets of his film "Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya" here.
Vindu, who got bail June 4, feels the government should legalise betting in the gentleman's sport.
"I think the government should interfere and legalise betting," he said. At the same time, he has vowed not to "watch cricket in my entire life". "So whether IPL 7 will be organised or not, it doesn't matter to me."

Wat do u think? Is vindu correct???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Legalising betting can perhaps be a much better option rather than contemplating a permanant ban on it. See UK example ,where betting is conducted within the provisions of the law. The website bet365.com has been set up for this purpose, making sure that betting or gambling is done in the interest of the masses, specially among youth who are lured into such acts very easily. We indeed should legalise betting and rather put stringent punishments for spot fixing and corruption in all forms of sports, courtesy which the sports draft bill promises to do so. Legalising betting can be a handsome source of income for GOI as well since as per the Indian Income Tax Act of 1961, straight 30%+education cess 3% is levied form income of such activities.

    2. The current gambling laws in India are ambiguous. The Gambling Act, 1867, prohibits gambling and the setting up of gaming houses. However, it does not apply to "games of skill". Several court judgments have discussed the difference between "games of chance" and "games of skill". In 1996, the Supreme Court ruled that betting on horse races is a game of skill, and not just luck. Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu allow betting on horse-racing, provided it is conducted on race courses and through licensed bookies. Gambling on rummy is also allowed. "In a similar fashion, a game of cricket involves skills of players," says FICCI's Singh.

      Delete
    3. Infact we should be amazed that it took just an IPL fixing scandal to draft an anti-fixing bill? There is ample evidence which suggests that betting takes place in almost every sports-be it a game of chance or skill. Every year the Indian version of bull fighting "Jallikuttu" takes place in Tamil Nadu, apart from claiming lives of people there are sycophant enthusiasts who even place bets on their animals

Singapore in Haze over Worsening Smog

Singapore's pollution standards index (PSI) hits record high as smoke lingers over city state. It reading hits 401, while anything above 300 is considered "hazardous", the highest ever recorded. The smoke, caused by seasonal burn off in Sumatra, is straining political relations.

While schools remained closed in Singapore for the summer break, more than 300 schools has been shut down in nearby Malaysia.
“It smells like burning” say Singapore’s resident.
Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsieng Loong says it could last for weeks, if not months.

What do you think who is really responsible for this nature cause….???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Offcourse man is responsible for all these natural changes calamities and disaster. Indonesia blamed eight companies, including Jakarta-based PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology (SMART) and Asia Pacific Resources International (APRIL), for the fires. The government, which said it would take action against any company responsible for the disaster.

    2. It is always said that precaution is better than cure. According to me rules and regulations should have been made in such a way that would have prevented any such thing from happeneng . And if strict rules and regulations are already there then why did hazard took place ?
Also the agencies who were appointed to keep a check on the defaulters are responsible as where were they and what were they doing when the limit was crosssed by just 1 point and the rules were broken .
More over the companies should also b held responsible for firstly breaking the norms n secondaly not meeting their social resopnsibilities .

      Delete
    3. I personally think that what most of us should be appreciating is clean air, not the absence of haze caused by them. Instead of pointing fingers at others and trying to solve the root of the problem, it is more important to fully understand and digest the moral of the story. Moreover, Indonesia's environment minister said eight domestic firms were suspected of being responsible for the blazes on Sumatra island that blanketed neighboring Singapore in record levels of hazardous smog.

      Delete
    4. I totally agree with Ms.Aastha that "Prevention Is Better Than Cure". Here are some of the measures that should have been taken before to solve this situation but are taken now. These include setting up the Haze Inter-Ministerial Committee and granting medical subsidies for vulnerable groups with haze-related ailments.

      Delete
    5. The Singapore haze is now the worst in 7 years. As long as greed possesing the blood cells of few bureucrats, politician, business tycoon, the disasterous result to mankind will continue.Palm Oil Companies from both Malaysia and Singapore who had invested in indonesia are responsible. Also the illegal forest clearing in Indonesia is one of the reasons.

      Delete
    6. I do agree with you Ms. Akshita that enough blaming has been done and the culprits have been identified . The need of the hour is to take actions to make things right and of course to clear the sky of Indonesia and also to punish the culprits. Strict measures should also be taken so that this man made disaster doesn't repeats itself for the third time.

Real Face of US Government: Snowdan

The former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) technical worker and National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowdan has blown up the cover of the US Government ongoing spying project on their own US-Citizens. According to the sensitive information, after 9/11 attack US Government had made modification in their Patriot Act. Due to those modification, the US Government had got the leverage of take the personal data of their citizens. Data like whom they are calling, what they are chatting, what they are uploading online every time etc. They are all collecting all these data in their database and keeping track of them.

This whole has made chaos in their citizens. They are feeling like they are living in the surveillance all the time, they can’t able to enjoy their privacy.

He had left the country with his girlfriend to Hong Kong. After revealing the information, The White House contact Hong Kong for the extradition of US Intelligence fugitive Snowdan. This lead in causing the rippling in US-China Relationship

So what you want from Snowden: Escape, Arrest or Justice?

    3. According to me, US government should publicly speak to their citizens about spying. Actually because of hacking and cyber crime, its difficult for any country or government to control the crime and internal threats caused by it.So its a kind of protecting people and country with that threats.

What the US Government is doing it is good in some respect but the way he is doing is not correct. Snowden is innocent, he has enjoyed his Rights as a citizen so he shouldn't be punished by government and let him go.

    China’s Hot Money crisis

China is facing its worst cash crunch in years with several banks taking short term loans at extremely high rates to stay afloat.

The liquidity squeeze comes in the wake of crackdown on shadow banking and the government’s decision of not bailing out banks by infusing additional funds. In the past, the central bank has come to the rescue of banks by cutting the reserve ratio requirements but it refuses to do so now as banks have repeatedly ignored its pleas against excessive lending.

China's weighted average overnight repo rate rose to the highest level in a decade hitting 13.1%. However, as the situation worsened, the government is believed to have released $8 billion to improve the liquidity scenario.

What are the Chinese government’s best options in this situation?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Chinese government should make stringent rules for the small banks so that they don't take high risks in shadow banking, that is investing in real estate. Also PBOC(public bank of China) should have to be vigilant in future so that no small bank lend out loan more than its domain.

      Delete
    2. The crisis could have been eased had China’s central bank agreed to pump additional liquidity into the economy. But the People’s Bank of China brushed off pleas do so, apparently to crackdown on excessive lending that has dramatically increased the price of assets like real estate. And i think they understand the extent of the problem [with shadow banking]. And they are taking measures to address this. Ultimately, the government is rich and I don't think this is going to be a very serious problem given that they’re already paying serious attention.

      Delete
    3. In the long run, I think it’s good news because China got into this situation precisely because the rest of the world economy is in bad shape, and China is doing well, and China has to spend a lot of effort to deal with this hot money. Now this problem will be disappearing.

      Delete
    4. The government should take strict actions regarding lending money and also try to increase the interest on loan so that the market conditions can be stablise.

Rupee slide and impact of a weak currency in selected sectors

The rupee slide comes as another blow at a time revenue growth is slowing and margins are being squeezed.the currency has lost 11% since may. This will adversely impact capital-intensive sectors and firms with foreign borrowings and those who import raw materials heavily.

ET analysed the impact of a weak currency on selected sectors:

    LOSERS

Telecom:Major telcos, including Bharti Airtel,Idea Cellular and Reliance Communication(RCom),have substantial foreign currency debt on their books. The sharp fall in the rupee in a short span against major hard currencies will expose these debt positions.

Automobiles:This industry is a generous importer of Auto components, could be hit because of a fall in the rupee not only against the US dollar but also against other global currencies, including Yen,Euro and Pound.

Petroleum Industry:The rupee fall will have a major negative impact on the sector as 84% of the country's oil requirements is met through imports. Most companies have foreign currency debt, which will result in higher mark-to-market provisioning.

Some other Losers due to rupee slide would be Power industries and capital goods industries.

    GAINERS

Pharma:Most co. in the sector will gain from the rupee's fall, since a substantial proportion of their revenues comes from exports.

Software:The operating margins of software services exporters tend to go up by 30-35 bps when the rupee falls by 1% against US dollar.companies like TCS,Infosys,Wipro and HCL Tech, may report improved performance in rupee terms for the quarter to June.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is good that atleast some of the industries will benefit from rupee slide like Infosys closed 2.2% higher at Rs.2419.15,followed by Tech Mahindra which ended 0.8% higher at RS992.85
TCS was up 1.3% to Rs.1422.55

    2. In my point of view rupee slide have worsen the situation for most of the companies, like mentioned above, telecom companies have foreign currency debt and it is becoming very hard for them to cope up. Because of this automobile and petroleum rates have also shooten up which is impacting general people in negative way.Although weakening of currency have both negative and positive impacts but after analysing both the situations we conclude that negative impact are wide and it is hampering our country.

Aerial surveillance to check crime in 7 major cities ; Helicopters with gun-toting commandos and sophisticated surveillance gadgets will soon keep vigil over seven major cities in the country under a home ministry projectaimed at checking crime.

Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad will get helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles fitted with high-powered cameras, sensors and other surveillance equipment under the home ministry's 'Safe City Project'.

The ministry has said in its latest guidelines that it is essential to have surveillance from air with regard to law and order and other crime-related activities in the cities.

"The air surveillance can be obtained by positioning various equipment ie balloons, UAVs, helicopters etc. which should have gadgets like cameras, sensors etc. to cater to specialised requirements on the occasion," the guidelines said.

The data (video, audio, text) collected from these devices should be fed to the command control centre for necessary action for both preventive and post-incident operations.

These elements can also act as a deterrent for criminal elements.

The home ministry said the cities should be covered with a network of CCTVs. The network must cover vital public places and critical infrastructure.

It could also cover public places like airports, railway stations, metro stations, bus stations, public hospitals, universities, schools and colleges, major crossings and roundabout on the roads and important government buildings.

Narendra Modi lands in Uttarakhand, flies out with 15,000 Gujaratis

DEHRADUN: In the two days that Narendra Modi has been in Uttarakhand, he has managed to completely rile not just the Congress government of Vijay Bahuguna but also the administrative staff involved in rescue operations at Kedarnath, Badrinath and Uttarkashi. But above all, he has also managed to bring home some 15,000 stranded Gujarati pilgrims.

The Gujarat CM, who flew in on Friday evening, held a meeting till 1am with his crack rescue team of five IAS, one IPS, one IFS and two GAS (Gujarat Administrative Service) officers. Two DSPs and five police inspectors were also part of his delegation. They sat again with the nitty-gritty of evacuation in a huddle that a senior BJP leader said lasted till 1am on Sunday.

Around 80 Toyota Innovas have been requisitioned to ferry Gujaratis to safer places in Dehradun as have four Boeings. On Saturday, 25 luxury buses transported a bunch of grateful people to Delhi. The efforts are being coordinated by two of the senior-most IAS officers of Gujarat, one currently stationed in Delhi and another in Uttarakhand.

As if that was not enough to thumb his nose at a government accused of large-scale mismanagement in handling the crisis, Modi later in the day even offered to "completely rebuild" the temple at Kedarnath using "the latest technology available" in such a way that no natural calamity would ever shake it again. The Uttarakhand CM is believed to have dismissed the statement.

What cannot be dismissed, though, is Modi's now trademark style of micro-management, something his supporters say is the need of the hour for India. "It's amazing what he has done here," said Anil Baluni, a BJP leader. "If someone doesn't like it, what can we do?'

Modi's men have not only para-dropped a complete medical team in Hardwar, they have also set up camps across th flood-hit regions. Prominent BJP workers in villages across the state are dealing directly with members of the rescue committee, telling them where food is to be sent, people given shelter and medicines administered. That seems to have helped. When a car owned by a Gujarati was stuck in a road-block by angry residents demanding aid in Badkot, Uttarkashi, an urgent message was immediately sent out by an IAS officer and the vehicle taken to safety.

Asked about the "new model" of rescue and relief operation by Modi that has helped 15,000 Gujaratis get out of Uttarakhand, an angry Congress legislator said, "See, that's what we mean. His model works only for Gujaratis."

In my opinion nothing is more important than human life and its not like he saved a small number of people. 15000 is a large number and what he did may have helped him gain positive points but in the end he did much more than those criticizing him did. I would say that he killed two birds with one stone.

    5. Well for Mr. Modi I feel, human beings are just Gujaratis, I mean he really needs to move beyond the boundaries of Gujarat and undertake all his policies and campaigns in order to benefit the entire nation. His policies are jacketed in the bracket of Gujarat, he needs to think of other "Indians" aswell.

    6. Its so unfortunate to see this from Modi, on one hand i can appreciate that he has taken these steps but if he claims to in the PM race (irrespective if he is or not), all life's are important, its not that only Gujarati's are important right. people would have appreciated if he had saved life's of all irrespective of where they come from... all are playing politics and this the reason India is at this state where there is no value for human life but value for money. and please don't take credit for such things.. as representative of people this is his responsibility..

    7. I feel what Modi has done is not very reasonable. What has language got to do when there are thousands of stranded people. Even if he gave a little priority to his state members, he ought to have continued with his mission for others also. I do not know what could be the reason for this discrimination...
Is this possible to send 15000 people back to the state ?how many planes can be arranged? How many trains ,buses and cars can be arranged? There are some obvious questions about extra zeros to the figure..

    8. Narendra Modi has done a good job by saving 15000 people and putting him in controversy for this isn't fair. We must appreciate that he is chief minister of Gujarat and if he is giving priority to Gujaratis there is nothing wrong with that. But i personally feel that one of two biggest political parties in India is portraying him as prime ministerial candidate for next general elections so he should have acted beyond regional aspirations. So as chief minister of Gujarat he did a fine job but as next prime ministerial candidate he disappointed me.

    9. I think what modi did is very good and if the same other chief minister of the state can do for the piligrims of their state who got stuck in uttrakhand, then the whole debate ends here but politics is all about downgrading others reputation whether he did good job or not that our rulling govt congress did very well,as the cm of uttrakhand waited for the army to take
action to start rescue operation first then they.
Is the uttrakhand govt lacked better supervision?

      Delete
    10. Ofcourse, what Modi has done is commendable! but the issue still remains, the actual number pf people stranded vary exceedingly more than the number of people rescued as claimed by Modi. Also, is this mere tactical and strategic method of forming his own vote banks in other states should be looked into!

But yes, his technique on micro-management being the need of the hour needs to be seriously considered by the ruling goverment!

    1. Hello,

I don't get the point of Sonia Gandhi asking the Congress Members to donate their one month salary. Does this mean that the congress does not have enough funds if any disaster occurs in our country?

The death toll is increasing in a huge manner and this is what the Government plans to do.

    2. IN Short run such initiatives are of great help and will be a boon for people affected but in long run we need more concrete measures so that affects of such natural disasters can be minimised better disaster management policies, innovative technologies to avoid loss of lives and wealth in such natural disasters, quick actions and decision making by every department it must be the effort of whole system to bring change, then only situation can be tackled more skilfully.

    3. If Sonia Gandhi can take such glamorous steps to highlight her sensitivity towards the victims, I really would have appreciated her even more if she could have pooled out her money from the swiss bank and done something so crucial and vital for the citizens of this nation. When the relief forces and disaster management committees are so ineffective in undertaking their respective duties in order to prevent further havoc, I see no point of this highlighted step of hers to help the people in Uttarkhand.

Ofcourse the relief money is needed, but I really wish we could do more for our people rather than simply compensating them everytime they face tragic issues.

    4. What Sonia Gandhi is trying to prove by asking Congress Members to donate their one month salary, I don't know. Center and state governments have already announced the relief funds so, according to me, money is not an issue here. The question is that, how these grants are going to be used ? If the Congress President really wants to empathize with the victims then she should see and monitor that whether the grants are being utilized optimally or not. Just asking congress leaders to donate money wont solve the issue especially when we don't even know whether they are actually donating their salaries or is it just an act ?

      Delete
    5. This is just gimmicks by Sonia and Congress.. The amount collected so will be peanuts considering the scale of disaster. Instead Congress should ask all its Swiss bank account holders to donate 1% of the amount and only 1 % of that will be sufficient to rebuild Uttarakand but unfortunately lives can’t be brought back!

    7. Sonia Gandhi through this step has just made an unsuccessful attempt in covering up inefficiency portrayed by her party as ruling government of union of India. Instead of making such irrelevant moves Mrs. Gandhi must focus on intensifying relief and rescue measures to show something really meaningful to citizens.

Further, honorable prime minister has announced grant of Rs1000 crores what about about his inefficiency in his capacity as chairman of national disaster management authority which proved itself worthless during this catastrophe.Since its inception in 2005,NDMA under extraordinary chairmanship of honorable prime minister has just contributed in form of some fancy cartography and meaningless mock drills.Matter of fact is that national disaster management authority itself is a disaster and need immediate steps for its effective management.

Apart from this, on 22nd June honorable parliamentarian Ambika Soni announced that government will soon come out with long term policy to tackle such a situation but irony lies in fact that she is making this statement when people in uttarakhand are still waiting for relief and rescue evident of government's crippled short term strategy.

In nutshell, government urgently need to shift its approach from "now cast" to "forecast" in disaster management so that innocent lives cold be saved and losses can be minimized.
Its a fact that we can't avert such a natural calamity but we could definitely manage it in order to minimize its impact.Further most crucial thing during such catastrophe is "time" and our government has wasted it like anything.

    1. I think its foolishness to compare present situation with past things were different, challenges were different, Economic conditions were different, unfortunately this nation is full of demagogues who capitalizes on the ignorance of masses instead of suggesting solution to reeling economy they are playing blame game, they are selfish people and with selfish motives change is not possible

    2. The interesting part about this article is that the opposition party BJP is commenting so just to indicate the incompetent Congress.
Not to forget that during their reign, were they able to generate employment?

      Delete
    3. This reflects on the conflict party politics that this country is handicapped by. We not only blame other parties for being incompetent but also shamelessly accuse the other for being ignorant especially towards the largest part of the Indian population. It is high time each political party recognise the urgent need to save the country rather than merely playing a simple blame game.
The youth of this nation needs to realise and awaken itself to being citizens of this nation first and undertake their own well being, because I really doubt that these parties would do even a thing for us!

    4. Unemployment has just crept from 2.5% to 2.7%, which although is a 10% increase, is actually insignificant. US and western economies have a much higher unemployment of 7.5-25% of the population. In India, most are employed in agriculture and in the informal sector and there is a total shortage of labour due to high employment rate. BJP is just using this forum to project untruths or half-truths which hide the real truth, blaming each other is not going to help ...there is an immense increase in population n if this continues then the unemployment rate is going to increase further so we are responsible somewhere and we have to realise this

      Delete
    5. Unemployment level that is on record is not absolute as well bcoz there also seasonal employment which of hidden unemployent bcoz various people are engage in work for the particular period of time and after the tenure period he is unemployed again .But part from that facts there is also participation of the govt.to raise the level of employement e.g -In india 250 banks are going to open in urban as well as on rural areas to uplift the level to certain extent but as we all know that the root cause of the unemp.is illiteracy bcoz to getting a job we require certain types of skill as well as knowledge so if u dont have that worth in u how u r employed in any company?

Procter & Gamble invests Rs 235 crore in Indian unit to match HUL

Procter & Gamble, the world's largest consumer products company, has pumped Rs 235 crore into its unlisted Indian unit, perhaps one of the first investments by chairman and CEO AG Lafley, who was called out of retirement last month.

Since October last, the Cincinnati-based parent company has invested Rs 998 crore in its Indian arm.The move is in line with the Cincinnati-based firm's global mandate to set up over 20 production centres and acquire 1 billion new consumers in emerging markets by 2015.

Experts feel that P&G has been facing criticism for its increased spending in emerging markets such as India at the cost of developed countries, which had been a cash cow for them. "P&G's India business has been growing at over 20% for a decade, but it is still a small part in its global revenues. But with the potential India has to offer, P&G wants to make sure it gets its infrastructure ready before it exploits the market with more brands from its global portfolio," said Hardik Shah, senior analyst at brokerage firm KR Choksey.

As a result of increased spending, the Indian unit of P&G posted record net losses of Rs 334 crore and Rs 353 crore in the financial years 2011 and 2012, its biggest losses since it entered India more than two decades ago.

Yet, the Indian business has been one of the smallest markets for P&G, with less than $1.5-billion sales across three subsidiaries - Procter & Gamble Health & Hygiene, and Procter & Gamble Home Products.

In comparison, the Indian unit of global rival Unilever has nearly $5 billion in revenues and is by far the market leader in detergents, hair care and skin care, all competing with P&G.

I have no aspirations for the prime minister's post, says Nitish Kumar

Dismissing charges of being an opportunist and of betraying the BJP, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said JD-U quit NDA as the saffron party did not keep its word about putting on hold contentious issues and not projecting leaders who cannot expand the coalition. In an exclusive interview, Nitish Kumar also clarified that he is not in the race for the post of prime minister.

I think he is against bjp leadership and don't trust them and believes in secularism and exclusive growth. it should not be limited to one section of society and he has rightly said one state model cannot work in every state, every state has its own issues and solution must be unique to every state one state model cannot be replicated in another state comparison is foolishness.

    2. I believe every minister is somewhat addicted to power, be it little power or a lot of power. Nitish Kumar is no exception to this rule. He sights several reasons for JD-U quiting NDA, but I feel he himself needs to show inclusive work potential before pointing fingers at others. If he thinks inclusive growth and expanding coalition is crucial, I wonder why he wants to just simply quit and not undertake his ideals for sorting out this issue.

    3. (Zest) Nitish kumar is not in the race but he continuously nagging in work of mr.modi what is the reason behind that it may be bcoz he want mr.advani for pm candidature or he is figuring out his self interest from other party so he keep mr .modi awake each and every time or it may be just he want to be tie up knots with other party.:-)

      Delete
    4. i don't appreciate Nitish Kumar saying that he has no aspiration to become prime minister.Recently he ended his coalition with BJP after realizing that BJP is not secular after 20 years of Babri Masjid incident and 10 years of Gujarat riots. But the fact is that he did so because BJP brutally shattered his dream of becoming prime minister which preferred Modi over him. He was ambitious to be prime minister candidate of NDA since era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani was fading but how Modi coming out as dark horse he was left with no choice but to break coalition. Now if we look at his current position it seem that BJP left him, congress doesn't recognize him and 3rd front itself is struggling , so he making statement that he don't aspire to be prime minister is quite logical and what i expected from him.

Brazil unrest: 'Million' join protests in 100 cities

More than a million people are reported to have taken part in protests in about 100 cities across Brazil.
Protests began more than a week ago over- high transport fares, corruption and the cost of next year's football World Cup. Also to denounce legislation, known as PEC 37 that would limit the power of federal prosecutors to investigate crimes - which many fear would hinder attempts to jail corrupt politicians. Earlier, 500 footballs, each with a red cross painted on, have been planted into the sand of Rio's Copacabana beach to represent 500,000 murders in Brazil in the last decade.

People want that to change now and are demanding hospitals, schools, and security all to Fifa standard.

In Rio de Janeiro riot police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at groups of masked young men trying to approach the City Hall late on Thursday. At least 29 people were reported injured. Rio authorities sealed off the state legislature building, the state governor's office, Guanabara Palace and the mayor's office.

What are the initial steps can government take to make this crisis go away….???

    2. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has proposed a referendum on a broad "political reform" in a bid to put an end to days of anti-government protests and social unrest across the country. On the same day, following talks with protest leaders and regional officials Rousseff also said the government would allocate "50 billion reais ($25 billion) in new investments for urban mobility projects" and "to improve public transport in the country.

    3. Rousseff was to meet on Monday with governors and mayors to win backing for plans to build more public hospitals and prioritize a project aimed at improving transportation in Brazil's cities. She also is lobbying them to support a congressional bill that would funnel all royalties from new oil fields to public schools and other education projects.
