HONDA MOTORS . US subsidiary will recall more than 143000 subcompact cars to replace faulty window switches that pose a potential fire hazard.

    1. the recall by Honda of 143000 cars of 2007 and 2008 models is not one of the case, it is the second time it has initiated such a campaign and globally it routine function of Honda. the recall would certainly hit image and profitability of Honda and will make the prospective buyers skeptic about its current and future product and 5 new models in Queue lot is at stake and much to think for Honda

    2. yes, last time the same situation occured in 2010.
but the company will also suffer if it will supply defective cars which are prone to catch fire anytime. so, recall is necessary for them.

    3. Honda said rain water or spilled liquids could damage the master power window switch on the driver's door, potentially causing the switch to overheat, melt and cause a fire. Although it has no reports of crashes or injuries as a result of the problem, Honda said it is advising customers to park affected Honda Fit hatchback vehicles in open areas until the master switch has been inspected.

Honda said dealers will inspect and replace damaged switches , owners would be notified from mid july.

    1. Just like International airport in Chandigarh which we have been listening for last 10 yrs at least custom department in delhi do not want to loose revenues and is not letting custom ppl sit there. They know once the Airport become International, no one from punjab will take a flight from Delhi. It will save atleast 6 hrs of extra journey, but who cares .. Let ppl suffer....!!!

Rather India needs more Roads, Metro , High speed railway and public transportation than "Expensive Airports". For me, It is wrong policy and priority of the government......!!!!

    2. Airport is one of component on which govt is planning to spend, as far metro is concerned govt is spending 30k crores in Mumbai ON RAILWAY CORRIDOR moreover investment can't be concentrated to one state only .

    3. exactly.. its not about expensive airports, the project includes building "low cost airports"in 51 states like Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab,Assam, Rajasthan.etc.

There is a slowdown in this sector and government will be focussing more on expressway projects this year

The current account deficit narrowed down to 3.6 per cent of GDP in the January-March quarter but totalled a record 4.8 per cent for the full 2012-13 fiscal.
"CAD moderated sharply to 3.6 per cent of GDP in Q4 of 2012-13 from a historically high level of 6.7 per cent of GDP in Q3 of 2012-13 as trade deficit narrowed," RBI said.
The moderation in CAD was due to non-oil and non-gold imports falling due to slowing economic growth.
Is the decreased CAD heal for our inflation wounds ???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. CAD being the difference in the outflow and inflow of foreign currency .
The finance ministry has said that increase or decrease in CAD ,is no reason for optimism or pessimism.
We should look at the figures at the end of the fiscal year to reach any conclusion

      Delete
    2. Although CAD has improved from around 4% to 3%, this is not going to help much because rupee has depreciated so much that the banks cannot cut interest rates which is most required right now to kick start the economy.

      Delete
    3. Financing the CAD this year will be the key challenge, as not only there are risks from lower portfolio inflows but debt inflows such as short term trade credits and higher reliance on short term foreign capital has increased the external account vulnerability...

Narendra Modi attacks congress, tells people to vote for change. On his maiden visit to Mumbai since taking charge as the head of the BJP's national campaign committee, the main opposition's presumptive prime ministerial candidate, who met the captains of industry as well as the Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray during the day, also spoke of the lack of public trust in the country's banking system. He urged that there was a need to strengthen the institutional framework of agencies such as the CBI and the Planning Commission.Lashing out at the Centre, Modi said, "The rulers sitting in Delhi are destroying the federal structure of this country. Gujarat government is being treated by the Centre as if it is their enemy. The Centre must not treat even Pakistan this way." Modi exhorted people to vote for change, arguing that democracy does not work like a contract given for five years. "People have to be vigilant and correct their mistakes if they have chosen the wrong party in the past. Time has come for change and people must be alert," he said.People want to invest in chit funds as they don't trust the banking system and feel bank deposits may not give them enough return," Modi said, "This trust deficit created due to faulty government policies is in turn weakening the financial institutions in the country. The country should not just run on procedural audit by talking about how every procedure was followed. It must take up performance audit on whether the work done by government or its contractors has been up to the mark. Modi said. On Thursday afternoon, the chief minister held a 25-minute meeting with the Shiv Sena chief, whose party mouthpiece Saamana had targeted Narendra Modi for reportedly rescuing only Gujarati pilgrims in Uttarakhand.

Gold prices near 3 year low- heads for worst quarter since 1968. Gold prices tumbled to a 23 month low by losing rs 1150 to rs 25650 per 10 grams in national capital on heavy selling by stockists and investors.....
What factors influence the price of yellow metal?
How it is linked with US fed reserve plan to wind down its monetary stimulus?
What will be the immediate implications on Indian gold market?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The situation could have corrected itself earlier if the imported price inflation has been passed on to consumers. Imports could have come down and trade deficit narrowed as high prices dented demand. Instead, the policy of subsidizing imported energy prices prolonged the pain and kept bloating the trade and fiscal deficits, thereby adding fuel to fire.

      Delete
    2. Gold prices going down due to several factors ...
US Federal Reserves planned a strategy to roll back bond purchases due to recovering economy..
Investors moving their money from gold to equitiies and on thr domestic front low demand due to non wedding season
All this collectively contribute towards gold price falling down and down

      Delete
    3. The markets are not bullish but not bearish either...some companies are growing steadily..so people are investing into equities rather than gold..people purchase gold to hedge against inflation..yes, inflation is there but comparatively the world prices have gone down so there is less hedging....so less buying of gold.and when the supply exceeds the demand the gold price falls...it is also because some central banks, like Cyprus, are selling their gold reserves to meet their nation's financial bailout...
the immediate effect is that consumers who purchase for consumption purpose will purchase more...and from the investment point of view people should but ETFs

Kanimozhi re-elected to Rajya Sabha, says followed Jayalalithaa's example

Chennai: The rousing reception for DMK Chief M Karunanidhi's daughter M Kanimozhi, following her victory in Rajya Sabha elections, resembled a party's victory bash after winning state elections.
Ms Kanizmohi is still fighting the 2G spectrum scam case for which she spent more than six months behind bars. Critics say she should have waited till her name was cleared in the case. But Ms Kanimozhi says she need not. "I have an example in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister (J Jayalalithaa) and I didn't have to wait till charges against me are cleared,"
The DMK did not have enough numbers to ensure her victory and it was support of its former ally Congress' five MLAs that brought her a second term in Parliament.
Just three months ago the DMK had snapped ties with the Congress and pulled out its members in the Union Cabinet alleging the centre did not do enough for tough UN action against Sri Lankan on allegations of human rights violations against Lankan Tamils.

Is Congress' support an indication of revival of ties between both parties ahead of Lok Sabha polls?

Impossible to Win Tour Without Doping says Lance Armstrong

Shamed US cyclist Lance Armstrong believes it is impossible to win cycling greatest's race without using banned substances,he said in an interview with LE MONDE on Friday,on the eve of the 100th edition of the Tour de France.

He added "To take one example,EPO(Erythropoetin) will not help a sprinter to win 100m but it will be decisive for a 10000m runner.

Armstrong told Le Monde that he was not the first athlete to dope and there would always be a doping culture.

Five time tour winner Bernard Hinault reacted angrily to Armstrong's comments and his claims that there was a doping culture in cycling. "We have got to stop thinking that all cycle racers are thugs and druggies,"he told BFM TV.

was it really impossible to win tour without doping,as said by Armstrong?

    1. It's nice to see the accused apologize for the wrong he has done to the spirit of Sports. Problems like doping, fixing, betting should be handled and taken seriously. There should be strict law in force to counter this type of activities, as major mass of people rely and have faith in sports and players, and situation like this create a sense of skepticism among people watching and believing in sports.
According to me it’s not impossible to win without taking support from such kind of illegal supplements, such things do look appealing and I also agree that they increase the efficiency and performance but that is only for a short time span, with the passage of time these drugs and supplements degrade the quality of muscles. They give success but only for short time if you want to win a long race drugs are not the answer .

      Delete
    2. Stamina ,endurance ,power and consistency are the words generally people associate with sports like soccer, basketball, hockey , rugby and cricket which generally have time span of few hours or a day. Can you decide whats the level of stamina , endurance , power and consistency required for cycle race TOUR DE FRANCE when someone says it is 23 days long race , one has to cycle for 3200 kms and have to cross few national boundaries as well.
Its very clear in aforesaid stanza that what's the level of physical endurance one must carry to compete in the race
But does that mean dopping is the solution?
I think no not at all its the nature of the game and participants must prepare themselves in such a manner so that they can compete well without any drugs.
Here comes the sportsmanship spirit if you cant win it then cheat.
And what about tradition its more then 100 years since the race is taking place.
So according to my point of view armstrong was wrong and this race can be won without the help of supplementary drugs .

CWG scam accused Suresh Kalmadi will seek a re-election on June 1 for the post of Asian Athletic Association's (AAA) President

Accused in the multi crore CWG scam and facing numerous cases of corruption, Suresh Kalmadi is once again set to contest elections to retain his post as the president of the Asian Athletic Association's (AAA) for a third successive term. Kalmadi appears to be calling the associates in the Athletics Federation of India who intern are sighting legalities to continue their backing of the former CWG organizing committee chief and are confident of getting the numbers.

His challenger, Al Hamad, is one of three vice-presidents in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) along with Sebastian Coe and Sergey Bubka.

Furthermore, Kalmadi who is out on bail after being in jail for 10 months was arrested in January 2012 under Sections 120 B and 420 (criminal conspiracy and cheating) of the Indian Penal Code for his alleged role in the Commonwealth Games Time Scoring Equipment scam.

So is Kalmadi eligible to stand for re-election without the Athletic Federation of India (AFI) nominating him?

    1. It seems like people who are most corrupt are putting forward in our country. It is beyond all ethics that Mr. kalmadi had again got a chance for (AAA) president who is out on bail. Also a wrong message has been conveyed to the world, that how corrupt we are and how sports has been influenced by it.

    2. One normally doesn't wish a compatriot to lose be it in sport or election to an international sports body. But in this case I did, and I'm happy that Suresh Kalmadi has lost his re-election bid for the post of president of the Asian Athletics Association.
For years he was the face of Indian athletics/sport officialdom to not much avail and serious corruption charges were made against him on the conduct of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010. It's unfortunate that he chose to or was allowed to contest despite those allegations.
According to me it is pure justice that Kalmadi was pipped 18-20 by Al-Hamad, president of the Qatar Athletics Federation and also a vice-president of the IAAF.

POLITICIANS LET SLUMS GROW AS VOTE BANKS:SHEILA DIKSHIT

NEW DELHI: Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday admitted that slums have grown in the city because they are potential vote banks for political parties. Speaking at the launch of a report by Assocham, 'Delhi Kal, Aaj aur Kal', she said slums do not go away because politicians are greedy enough to allow them to grow. "There is a vested interest at work but now we need to do something about it," she said.

Taking a diametrically opposite position to that of union urban development minister Kamal Nath, who is pushing for high-rises with relaxation in FAR (ratio of total floor area of a building to the plot area) norms, Dikshit said she would not allow the city to go the high-rise way till she was alive

Shuttlers from top Asian nations to participate in Indian Badminton League

Contrary to media reports ,top badminton stars from leading Asian countries like Indonesia,Hong kong ,Japan South Korea,China and Malaysia will be taking part in Indian Badminton League.

The player auction of the IBL will take place on july 19.The IBL auction will feature almost all the world top 50 players in both Men's and women's categories and the current pool of 150 players for the auction is likely to increase as the last date for the entry is july 5.

The $1 million Indian Badminton League is set to launch on august 14,2013,with some high voltage action expected between Hyderabad hotshots and Karnataka kings. The 2013 IBL will feature six franchises and will run for 18 days. Each franchise will host a two day-leg and the league will showcase a grand total of 90 matches.

can Indian Badminton League reach to the level of Indian Premiere League?

    1. The Indian Badminton League, or IBL, hopes to shake up the experience of watching the game, much like the Indian Premier League (IPL) did with cricket,by injecting unprecedented amounts of money,a little bit of Bollywood shine, and city-based team loyalties. The 18-day league will see six city franchise teams, each with 11 players (four of whom can be foreigners),playing each other in singles, doubles, and mixed-doubles fixtures across cities, with the final in Mumbai. The $1 million (around `57 crore) prize fund is the largest ever offered in the sport.Though Badminton in India enjoys moderate popularity, the Badminton Association of India needs to do a lot for making this game more popular amongst the youngsters as its more glamorous cousins like cricket in the country.Training camps and guidance session by experts can be organized in various parts of the country to generate a basic level awareness about this sport in the country.

    2. According to me,IBL is going to change the world of badminton in India if it is implemented properly like IPL .There is a great need to promote every sports so that we can have best players world wide and who can bring gold for our country in different sports event like Olympics.

    3. IBL can create revolution but from my point of view it cant reach to the level of cricket because in India people are crazy about cricket or IPL . But before starting IBL the board of members have to take steps for fixing games or turn the level of game to the corruption . If it is implemented properly like IPL . After few time we can have best names in badminton

Initially this project was launched in some remote and inaccessible areas of New Zealand, whereby helium balloons were floated atleast 20kms from the ground level, providing 3G internet access in such areas, and this project was a huge success there and it is perceived that similar trends would be observed in our country as well.I think this could be a game changer!!

    Eurozone needs "faster" integration: Hollande

French President Francois Hollande on Friday called for eurozone countries to go "further and faster" in an integration process that should also include a "social dimension".BRUSSELS: French President Francois Hollande on Friday called for eurozone countries to go "further and faster" in an integration process that should also include a "social dimension".

Hollande also said European countries that do not have the euro "should let the others proceed at their own pace" -- a reference to Britain which is often seen as stalling on integration.

The Socialist president said the 17-member eurozone -- soon to be joined by Latvia -- should have "various methods for taking decisions and extra tools" and that the European system "could not simply be a union of 28 countries".

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had said at the start of the summit that she wanted to develop economic and monetary union "still further" and have "more commonality" in the banking sector.

Hollande said he had agreed with Merkel on the creation of a eurozone fund "for competitiveness, employment and for young people".

Merkel had referred to the fund in a speech on Thursday, saying it could be "a mechanism for solidarity under strict conditions".

The proposal is for individual EU member states to be able to draw from the fund if they cannot fulfil key economic targets that they would negotiate individually in binding bilateral contracts with the European Commission.

There has been no mention of the size of the fund.Merkel said she wanted a final decision on the fund at an EU summit in December.

EU is a strong integrated force and reckons to expand its membership. France along with other countries can undertaken wider steps to initiate solidarity.
With this, EU will become even stronger and economically independent. Also, with the help of setting up a Eurozone fund, all EU members will have an opportunity to develop to its zenith.
such constructive undertakings will help EU emerge as a force to reckon with, which will work in favour of its citizens.

    UK to tighten immigration laws.

London: The British government intends to introduce new rules to curb immigrants’ rights to settle down permanently in the UK. This move will most likely impact many Indians adversely, who are seeking to live in the country.
The government will remove the rule that gives foreign workers the right to live permanently in Britain after working there for five years. The government will also restrict the rights of their family members to join them, reports said.
Theresa May, the Home Secretary, is drawing up plans for a new ‘hurdle’ for immigrants that would prevent most of them gaining the right to remain here indefinitely.
“Mrs Theresa May and Damian Green, the immigration minister, want to break the link between working and settling in Britain,” the report quoted a government source as saying.
Once someone is granted indefinite leave to remain, they can apply for a British passport. The number of immigrants taking advantage of this rules has spiralled in the past 14 years, the report said.
The Home Office will also look at checking the right of spouses of immigrants to a British passport if they stay here long enough.
Under the plans, to be announced later this year, foreigners will still be able to gain a visa to work in Britain but will no longer be able to stay just by remaining legally for five years.
People from outside the European Union, who came to Britain as asylum seekers and have worked in the country for years, possibly illegally, are also to have their right to remain restricted.
About 51,000 people were given the right to settle in Britain in 1997, but the figure escalated to a record 241,192 last year.
More than half of those granted the right to stay in Britain in 2010 were from Asian countries such as Pakistan and India, and 27 per cent were from African countries.

    1. This indeed shows the crucial scenario of pressure on each economy of the world today. Britain too, is facing intense pressure and is struggling hard to fit "outsiders" into its territorial range. With sharing of resources, division of employment and diversification in its population, Britain wishes to tighten its visa and residential immigration laws. On one hand, it seems to be apt, as Britain wants to enhance the economic opportunities for its citizens. But on the other hand, it restricts people from outside Britain to not explore the economic advantages prevailing there. Britain through this, higlights itself as not so open country in terms of settlement involved. It can and will only emerge as a workshop of the world, as it was during the Industrialization period, wherein people would only work, and earn for a stipulated time frame.

Strict immigration laws can thus be intepreted differently.

    2. The main thing which is terrifying UK is the rising population of POLES since its entry in EU in 2004. In 2003 Poles were at the figure of 75000 according to its census. But the census of 2011 showed that the figure has increased upto 5,21,000. This step of tighteinig immigration laws should be implemented so that those who are illegally indulged into any business just in a condition to obtain citizenship should be banned. UK is doing this so that their british citizens donot keep away of the benefits of the resourceful economy. Yes it will have an adverse effect on the foreign workers who want to work outside to explore Britain economy.

    4. UK is a great country and it should adapt a common sense approach if they want to retain a name in the developed world by retaining skilled workforce instead of implementing illogical populist rules. This country has ruled the world, so there should be something in history. In the new world order, where Asia is growing tremendously, i don't think UK can focus on populist ideology and ignore what the country exactly requires in 21st century to drive it forward. The government should focus on skilled and unskilled categories of immigration and tackle them separately. There should be a logical and common sense approach. The verification processes need to be improved. Even in extension applications, the verification should be done in almost all the applications to root out people who have come on initial bogus applications. That will be fair.

The much-dreaded 100% cut-off has reared its head once again with Ram Lal Anand College declaring the figure for some aspirants for computer science. This was followed by Hindu College with 99.75% for commerce, according to the DU cut off list.
Shri Ram College of Commerce, infamous for its 100% cut-off in 2011, has upped its cut-off for commerce by 0.5 percentage points over last year’s figure, taking it in the range of 97% to 99% for different subject combinations. The cut-off for economics has gone up to 97.5%, a jump of 0.5 percentage points.
At Kirori Mal College, the economics cut-off has gone up by 1.75 percentage points. The increase at Ramjas College is of 0.5 percentage points for commerce, while the economics figure stays the same as last year.
Miranda House has seen an average increase of 2 percentage points in most courses. The highest cut-off is for Computer Science, between 97.25% and 98%.
At LSR College, the cut-off for journalism is a whopping 98.5%.
The increase in off-campus colleges is much higher. At west Delhi’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay College, the average jump has been of 4 percentage points. For computer science, the cut-off is up from 92% to 96% this year. English, too, has seen the same jump, reaching 92%.
Experts say the cut-offs are high as students were allowed to indicate only choice of subject while filling out forms. So a student’s application reached every college offering the subject, not giving the colleges a clear picture of those actually interested.

    1. Looking at the rising cut-offs year after year, It seems like even a 90% is not good enough. What is the solution to this???

    2. the entire rot is with the system within which DU functions. Its' sad to hear students scoring fly high 95+ even struggling to get admission into a premier institute. Despite assurances given by vice chancellor of cut offs being flexible for all category of students,it is merely an illusion. The only solution that can be offered is by making admission in perhaps all UG courses though entrance exams only .Many students from neighbouring states do get admission into high ranked DU colleges on merit basis, but many do fail to sustain with the academic pressures and culture .It is perhaps only through aptitude tests, psychometric tests or councelling sessions that only desirable candidates be screened and relax the ever-exploding cutoffs

All talk? China says ready to 'break new ground' on border dispute.
China on Friday said it was ready to "break new ground" with India to resolve the boundary dispute as the Special Representatives of the two countries held 16th round of border talks to find a solution to the vexed issue.
"I stand ready to work with you to build on the work of our predecessors and break new ground to strive for the settlement of the China-India boundary question and to make greater progress in the China India strategic an cooperative partnership in the new period," newly appointed Chinese Special Representative Yang Jiechi said here.
Former foreign minister Yang, who took over from the long-standing Chinese Special Representative Dai Bingguo, welcomed his Indian counterpart National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon, saying "the two Special Representatives have a lofty mission and heavy responsibilities".
This is the first meeting of the border talks after the new leadership took over in China in March.
India asserts that the dispute covered about 4,000 km, while China claims that it confined to about 2,000 km to the area of Arunachal Pradesh, which it refers as Southern Tibet.
"First of all let me warmly welcome you to come to China for the 16th round of the Special Representatives meeting on the China-India boundary question," he said, stating that "over the years you have made important contribution to the growth of China-India relations in various capacities."
"You and I have known each other for a long time. We are very familiar with each other and established a good working relationship and personal friendship," Yang said. He also complimented Dai for the work done in the last decade.
Yang recalled the recent visit of Premier Li Keqiang to India stating that it was an important event coming after the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Durban in March.
Li's visit "injected fresh and strong momentum into the further development of our bilateral relationship," he said.
"The China-India relationship has developed good momentum of development. The Special Representatives meeting is an important exchange and cooperation mechanism between our two countries," he said
On his part, Menon expressed his pleasure to hold talks with Yang. "You are an old friend and in India you are known for your various contributions you have made to the positive development of our bilateral relations," Menon said.
"As you have said we are meeting at a moment when India- China relations have achieved a momentum and are moving in the right direction. It is our conviction that we are at a moment of strategic opportunity for this relationship," Menon said.
During his two-day stay in Beijing, Menon is due to meet Premier Li and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Menon's talks with Chinese leaders is also expected to focus on recent intrusion by Chinese forces in India's Depsang Valley in Ladakh region.

The border talks are currently in second stage of the three stage process which has been agreed in the beginning.

The first stage was to do the guiding principles which resulted in 2005 agreement on the political parameters and guiding principles for boundary settlement.

The second stage is aimed at working out a framework for boundary settlement. Once a framework was in place the countries will proceed to actual business of drawing boundary.

    1. This is a great news for India and China, as both are emerging economies and infact possess a high volitality towards excessive growth and progress. The bilateral agreement between these two nations will be super beneficial in the long term and will help the two advance without any hindrance. If these two nations progress parallely, am sure nations like the United States Of America and European counterparts like France, Germany and others will not get an opportunity to exploit the asian side of the world. Its the close proximity which China and India share, that will help them move in one direction if these talks bear fruits.

Boundary confrontations can excessively hamper the economic situation of any country and also risk its citizens to infiltration and terrorism. This infact, seems to be a crucial step forward in strengthening India's economic stance with respect to China. This seems to be a good news for India, specifically.

US boss detained in China for bid to shift business to India?
BEIJING: Foreign businessmen in Beijing are asking if the Communist Party-backed trade unions are working on plans to frustrate any possible moves to shift industrial units out of China.

They are shaken by the recent detention of an American businessman, who tried to shift his business to India.

Charles Starnes, 42, co-owner of speciality medical supplies firm Coral Springs, was detained for six days in his factory in the Beijing suburb of Huairou. What concerns foreign businesses is that the government, which usually disapproves labour strikes, allowed the detention by workers to continue for six days.

Some economists have suggested that foreign businesses might shift to neighbouring countries like India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Cambodia, where labour, land and other costs are lower.

The labour resistance in the medical supply plant suggests that this might prove to be difficult.

Workers at the plant were enraged when they saw a group of Indian engineers visiting the plant for inspections ahead of the company's plans to shift its injection moulding division to Mumbai, sources said. Workers were also demanding higher wages and better compensation for the division's employees who stood to lose jobs.

Local government officials and Communist Party cadre were involved in negotiations with the company's management. There was no major effort by officials to persuade workers to release Starnes from detention though it is an illegal activity, sources said.

    1. China seems to be very competitive, rather, has always been competitive. This is clearly visible when China detained a US businessman under a misconception that he was planning to shift his business to India. China has always been conspicuous and extra cautious when it comes to its economic operations and money matters. I don't think there is anything bad in it. Is it?

As i stated earlier they can do anything for power and their self interest, this is one of the example to prove that point, they are not concerned with any social obligation just their personal motives that it, they are like 'DABAANG' in south asia, dictating their own terms and conditions without caring for others, such a selfish and hypocrite nation.

    1. I feel it is a good initiative on the part of Railway Ministry to launch SMS based booking system. But what needs to be addressed iS whether even dalals/touts will clog this system as well? When online booking system through IRCTC was commissioned,it was assumed that those who had to wait in long hours of infinite lines of reservation centres will now easily with just a click book tickets, but unfortunately owing to super-slow server system and site being repeatedly hacked, then redesgined, huge traffic onsite had crippled the efficiency of online reservation. If Railways is committed to end this nuisance, especially slow server ,then even i would welcome this initiative for now atleast!

    2. I think this is a good initiative taken by the Railway Ministry. This will definitely make the process for booking rail tickets much easier. However like my friend Gaurav rightly pointed out the effectiveness of this initiative depends majorly on how it is executed. Weather it is able to serve the purpose for which is it launched, for now we will have to wait and see...

"Everything is not perfect, it has to be perfect". rather thn criticising the goverment, it should be appriciated. now the people have no need of to be in line for minutes n hours. its specially helpful for remote areas which dont have station nearby or live far from station, if they have internet or smartphone..it would be quite beneficial for them. so overall its a great step taken by indian railway for ticket booking.

Govt considering ordinance to keep political parties out of RTI

New Delhi: This is one move that the government will find little opposition to. It is considering an ordinance to supercede this month's order of the Central Information Commission bringing political parties under the Right to Information or RTI Act.
It is looking at changing the definition of "public authority" in the Act in a way that will exempt political parties.

All political parties have argued that they are not government funded and are not public authorities and so should not be brought under the RTI Act, which seeks to make transparent all expenditure of public money and other details about public authorities that impact citizens.

The CIC had ruled on June 3 that any written records can now be sought from any entity in a political party. This means that they would now have to share, if sought, details like who funds them, how they spend that money and even how they select candidates for elections.

The CIC held that political parties are "public authorities", have a "public character" and are "substantially funded by the government." It said that parties got land and big government-owned bungalows at deep discounts which amounts to getting "financial benefits."
It also said that political parties "affect the lives of the citizens, directly or indirectly in every conceivable way and are continuously engaged in performing public duty. It is, therefore, important that they become accountable to public."

Is the govt. right in making an attempt to keep political parties out of RTI??

    1. This is again a debateable issue ....
Because according to CIC political parties have a public character and they are funded by government ....so they must be answerable to public ..they enjoy all the benefits of government .....
but then on the other hand may be people would take unnecessary advantage of it ....as there would be certain information that has to remain confedential ....

    2. in point of view all party should come under RTI.because this is right to know about all the party and their funds.whenever there is good thing for people all party came to one side.

    2014’s F1, Licence-style penalty points

Along with new engines, the 2014 Formula 1 season will introduce a licence penalty point system to penalise drivers next season. Drivers who accumulate more than 12 points will be automatically banned from the next race. The amount of points a driver may be given for a race infringements will vary from one to three depending upon the severity of the offence.

    1. As of today, we can say games are changing in order to keep the spark alive, shadow of which can be seen in f1 racing as well . From 2014, change in engine specifications of cars can be seen like 2.4 litre V8 engine which was used from 2006 to 2013 is replaced by 1.6 litre turbocharged V6 engine , this is also because of changing technology. Another change is addition of license penalty points with a total of 12 points to decide if the driver will be allowed to play next or not. Drivers can be penalized with 0-3 points in each race depending upon the rules he breaks in the race, and when the total becomes 12 penalty points the driver is barred to play the successive year. Which means that if a driver has to play every race willingly in order to race the next time which keeps the discipline level high and the environment challenging for racers, crew as well as the spectators.

Samsung makes Smart move with Boxee buyout
Samsung has acquired Israel-based start-up firm Boxee in a move that would likely make it a big challenge to Apple and Google in the next wave of entertainment that marries conventional TV sets with on-demand video via Internet.

Boxee offers streaming media content such as live TV, cloud-based videos-on-demand and internet applications through its set top boxes — branded as Boxee TV.

The buyout gives Samsung ownership rights to jazz up the humble Boxee TV and stay ahead in a highly-competitive smart TV market in which software and design to match Apple and Google are critical. Though ailing somewhat as a small startup, Boxee packs a talented team and a cutting-edge product that could help Samsung move up in the game.

Boxee TV is essentially a set-top-box that merges live TV broadcast, a cloud-based digital-video-on-demand service and Internet applications in a single device.

Boxee had recently announced that its new Boxee TV would be available from November this year for $99 (R5,940).

Cloud-based video-on-demand means that videos will get uploaded on Boxee’s servers instead of getting stored on the local hard drive of the device, thus giving users flexibility to access these content anytime, from anywhere.

“We’re pleased to announce that the Boxee team will be joining Samsung,” Boxee wrote on its website conforming the deal.

“The deal will help us continue to improve the overall user experience,” tech website Mashable quoted a Samsung representative. Mashable quoted a few Israeli publications saying the deal could be worth $30 million (Rs 182 crore).
